Senior Clinical Fellow Paediatric ED, Trauma, Ambulatory Care at King''s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Closing date: 26 September 2025.This is a replacement post. The remit is to work within the multi-disciplinary team, providing and further developing care for patients from Child Health, and to provide and develop services to the Trust''s patients. The appointee will play an active role in the general workload of the Care Group and contribute to development and delivery of services depending on interests and experience. The paediatric department at King''s is a PAFTA-award-winning training centre offering specialty training to paediatric trainees and other learners, with CESR support and key rotations for international trainees. This role is for a middle-grade fellow to join the paediatric emergency department with a one-day-per-week commitment to a specialist interest in simulation, trauma or ambulatory care.Main duties of the job
DutiesSpecialist interest: One day per week dedicated to either trauma, simulation or ambulatory care.Clinical: Remainder of the job plan spent clinically in the ED, delivering all aspects of care of medical and surgical paediatric patients presenting to the Emergency Department, supervision of more junior paediatric/emergency department colleagues in the department.General Paediatrics:
Evening, nights and weekend cover for the general paediatric service at middle grade level as per rota.Teaching: Assistance in conjunction with consultants, lecturers and more junior trainees with the teaching of undergraduates.Research: The department is actively involved in PERUKI studies; the successful candidate will be encouraged to get involved.About us

Role DescriptionThis post is suitable for a junior doctor at middle-grade level, interested in advancing their training in paediatric emergency medicine and skills in paediatric trauma/simulation/paediatric ambulatory care. The successful candidate will also develop administrative skills in a teaching hospital environment. Ideally trainees will have completed MRCPCH Part 2 and will have up-to-date certification for Advanced Paediatric Life Support training and Level 3 Children’s Safeguarding.Although this appointment is not accredited for training, the appointee will be given the opportunity to participate fully in the educational and training programmes within the department and the hospital, and the competencies gained could be used to form part of Level 3 training (depending on prospective deanery approval sought by the candidate). Appointees will have a named educational supervisor from child health and a named clinical supervisor from emergency medicine.Person Specification
Qualifications
MRCPCH Part 1 and Part 2 or equivalent.MSc or higher award.Registration
Full registration with GMC with License to Practice.Training and Experience
Able to demonstrate competencies expected of a new ST4 level paediatric trainee or above.A minimum of 6 months neonatal experience.APLS or equivalent.Level 3 Safeguarding certificate.Familiar with current structure of Health Service and conversant with recent initiatives and changes.Audit and Quality Improvement
Thorough understanding of principles of medical audit and quality improvement. Must have undertaken and completed audit projects.Relevant research experience in one or more aspects of general paediatrics; publication of relevant review articles or case reports.Teaching
Experience of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and exam preparation.Personal Skills
Effective communicator, able to work in a close-knit team and cooperate with all medical and paramedical staff.Disclosure and Barring Service Check
