The Opportunity

Are you a resilient and trauma-informed individual looking to support vulnerable learners in Blackpool? We are seeking an SEMH Support Mentor to join our specialist team this May.

This is a Temp-to-Perm position, meaning you will start on a temporary basis to ensure the school and the student are the right fit for you, with a direct pathway to a permanent contract and long-term career stability. You will be working in an environment where "behaviour is communication," supporting students who face challenges with emotional regulation and mental health.

Key Responsibilities

  • 1:1 & Small Group Support: Provide bespoke emotional and academic support to students with identified SEMH needs.

  • Trauma-Informed Practice: Use nurturing and de-escalation strategies to help pupils regulate their emotions and manage their behaviour safely.

  • Barrier Removal: Identify and address barriers to learning, helping students re-engage with their education and build self-esteem.

  • Collaborative Care: Work alongside the SENCO, Educational Psychologists, and Pastoral leads to implement personalised intervention plans.

  • Classroom Integration: Support the Class Teacher in maintaining a calm and predictable learning environment for all students.

What We Are Looking For

  • Resilience: The ability to remain calm and professional in the face of challenging behaviour.

  • Backgrounds: We welcome applications from Qualified TAs (Level 2/3) or Unqualified individuals with experience in youth work, residential care, sports coaching, or psychology.

  • Values: A genuine "can-do" attitude and a commitment to improving the life chances of young people in Blackpool.

  • Compliance: You must hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to undergo a full background check.

Why Join Us?

  • Pathway to Permanency: A secure route into a permanent role within a supportive local school.

  • Training: Access to specialist CPD including Team Teach, Mental Health Awareness, and Trauma-Informed practice.

  • Community: Join a passionate team dedicated to making a difference in the local Blackpool community.

How to Apply

Interviews are taking place throughout late April for a May 2026 start. Please submit your CV detailing your experience supporting children or vulnerable adults.
