Sheridan Maine is delighted to be partnering with an innovative and growing business based near Dorchester to recruit a Financial Reporting & Tax Accountant.
This is a great opportunity for a qualified (or nearly qualified) accountant looking to broaden their technical expertise across statutory reporting, tax compliance and financial governance. What you'll be doing
As the Financial Reporting & Tax Accountant, you'll be involved in a diverse range of responsibilities including:

  • Preparing annual statutory financial statements and supporting disclosures.
  • Assisting with year-end audit activities and liaising with external auditors.
  • Supporting corporation tax computations and tax reporting processes.
  • Managing VAT returns and ensuring ongoing compliance.
  • Assisting with PAYE and employment tax obligations, including annual reporting requirements.
  • Working alongside external tax advisers on technical tax matters.
  • Monitoring changes in accounting standards and tax legislation, assessing the potential impact on the business.
  • Supporting Companies House filing requirements and statutory deadlines.
  • Assisting with regulatory reporting, including Gender Pay Gap reporting and other compliance submissions.
  • Maintaining tax governance documentation, risk registers and internal controls.
  • Identifying opportunities to streamline reporting processes through automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
 
What we're looking for
The successful candidate will ideally have:
  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification (or be in the final stages of qualification).
  • Strong financial accounting and statutory reporting knowledge.
  • A good understanding of UK accounting standards.
  • Previous exposure to one or more areas of tax, including Corporation Tax, VAT or PAYE.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to research technical accounting issues.
  • Strong communication skills with the confidence to explain complex financial matters to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • A proactive approach with a genuine desire to continue developing technical expertise.
 
Experience gained within audit, practice or financial reporting would be highly advantageous.
