Job Title: Web Content Editor | Ref: KandC 5276034 | Pay rate: £17.73 per hour PAYE | Role length: Anticipated 3 months | Working arrangements: Hybrid - 3 days in the office, 2 days working from homeThe role
We are looking for a Web Content Editor, who can ideally start as soon as possible, to oversee the day-to-day management and continuous improvement of the corporate website and microsites, including site structure, navigation, and content strategy. This is a temporary service facing role with the opportunity to work with a variety of services across the organisation. Previous local government or similar organisation experience would be beneficial.Key responsibilities
Ensure all web content aligns with best practices in usability, accessibility (WCAG), and web writing standardsManage technical configurations and CMS platforms to meet agreed service requirements and technical specificationsSubmit and manage support tickets related to website bugs and technical issuesPromote and embed a user-centred approach to digital content and service delivery across the organisationEnsure websites and digital services comply with accessibility standards and Government Digital Service (GDS) guidelinesUse analytics and user feedback to inform content decisions and site improvementsPlan, prioritise, and manage digital projects, balancing multiple competing demands and meeting deadlinesBuild and sustain effective relationships with internal teams, stakeholders, and external partnersCommunicate technical and non-technical information effectively to diverse audiencesIdentify and engage key stakeholders, manage expectations, and drive consensusContribute to defining and evaluating digital strategies and policies to ensure alignment with business objectivesProvide guidance and support to colleagues on digital best practices, technologies, and service standardsAssess and manage risks associated with digital projects and website operationsOversee quality assurance processes to maintain high standards in digital service deliveryWhat the client is looking for
GCSEs or equivalent in English and Mathematics at grades 5-9Previous local government or similar organisation experience would be beneficialExtensive experience in website management, including site architecture, content structuring, and CMS platformsProficiency in web technologies such as HTML, CSS, XML, and web development toolsStrong knowledge of web writing best practices and accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG 2.2 AA and the GDS Service Manual)Experience with web analytics tools and the ability to interpret data to inform decisionsSkilled in managing website technical issues, including submitting and tracking support ticketsDeep understanding of user-centred design principles and best practices in online communicationsExperience promoting accessibility and compliance with Government Digital Service (GDS) standardsAbility to develop creative, clear, and engaging online content aligned with organisational objectivesProven ability to plan, prioritise, and manage multiple projects with competing deadlinesStrong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiencesExperience building and maintaining positive working relationships across complex organisations and with external partnersAbility to define, evaluate, and guide digital strategies and policiesStrong analytical skills, including risk assessment and operational impactHow to Apply
