The Water Solutions Manager (WSM) supports scaling and growth across Amazon’s Data Centre network, driving the water supply strategy and discharge requirements for new sites. Responsibilities include management of design consultants, drafting contractual documents, developing infrastructure requirements and solutions, budgets, and proposed project schedules. The WSM will influence onsite design solutions to ensure water chemistry, treatment and infrastructure meet on-site needs, requiring multidisciplinary support to design engineering, construction, operations, and maintenance for Amazon’s global data centres. You will define prescriptive and performance-based design approaches to document the various water needs that our facilities require to ensure safe drinking water for site staff and adequate water treatment plant performance for industrial use and discharge compliance with environmental regulators.AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the associated servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment to ensure continual customer access. You will join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles, collaborating to deliver high safety and security standards while providing scalable capacity at optimized cost. The Worldwide Sustainability (WWS) organization manages Amazon’s social and environmental impacts globally, driving solutions that enable customers and businesses to become more sustainable.Key responsibilities

Water feasibility and due diligence to determine off-site supply and discharge infrastructure; design review for onsite water management.Creation of project scope, business case and infrastructure requirements; develop contract and draft documentation, request for proposals, and capital requests.Project management for capital water infrastructure projects, encompassing consultant management for site solution development and strategy formulation, solution design and implementation.Own project scope, timeline, and budgets for capital water infrastructure projects, ensuring coordination from conception to completion.Support continuous process improvement through leading workflow updates, documenting and implementing lessons learned, and sharing knowledge across delivery teams to improve efficiency across EMEA.Regularly report to senior leadership on status of key project metrics vs. commitments.Create detailed planning packs to build scalable and future-proof off-site infrastructure.Demonstrate deep understanding of water infrastructure construction processes across the EMEA region.Program management, risk mitigation and status reviews to management and internal customers.Work with third-party design vendors to review concept designs and designs in progress to ensure they meet design standards, local code requirements, and AHJ requirements.Ensure water systems are disinfected to national and statutory requirements before PFHO, with water meters installed, commissioned and calibrated correctly, and water treatment plant delivering required outputs (flow and quality).Maintain discharges below permit conditions and coordinate with construction, commissioning, and risk management teams for information requests and value engineering.Prepare early-stage water-related Owners Requirements documentation and work with Procurement to create RFQ mechanisms for Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) in the Specialist Water Contractor (SWC) scope.A day in the life

Collaborate with third-party design vendors to review concept designs and progress to ensure compliance with design standards, local code requirements, and AHJ requirements.Coordinate with construction, commissioning, and risk management teams to respond to requests for information and value engineering queries.Support the development of early-stage water requirements documentation and procurement mechanisms for ECI with the SWC scope.About the team

Bachelor’s degree and 5-12+ years of water resources, treatment, infrastructure management, and feasibility project experience.Experience in stakeholder management including regulators, water utilities, environmental agencies, health departments, and contractors.Ability to assess early-stage feasibility and develop an investment business case to secure internal funding for off-site water reinforcement projects.Experience in construction management and/or program management in the water and environmental infrastructure industry.Comprehensive knowledge of water and environmental sectors, with design and delivery experience collaborating with telecom construction contractors and vendors.Demonstrated ability to manage complex project priorities and dependencies.Proficiency with MS Office and project management tools.Excellent analytical, quantitative, communication, and presentation skills.Preferred qualifications

PMP certification.Experience in managing complex technology infrastructure projects.Experience with multiple project management methodologies.Strong multi-tasking and prioritisation skills.Extensive experience with contractual and procurement methods (procurement, DandB, DBO, etc.) aligned with water utilities, environmental agencies (EU) or 3rd party contractors.Experience delivering water infrastructure projects with multiple stakeholders across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.Fluency in a second European language (e.g., German, French, Italian, Spanish).Amazon is an equal opportunities employer.
