Salary: £33,000 - £36,000 per annum

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and organised Transport Planner to join a busy and growing transport operation in Aldridge.
This is a hands-on role where you will play an important part in ensuring vehicles and drivers are planned and coordinated efficiently, while keeping customer requirements and operational demands at the forefront.
You''ll need to be someone who can think on your feet, stay calm under pressure and quickly find solutions when plans change. Strong communication skills and a good understanding of UK transport operations are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate daily transport operations and driver schedules.
- Allocate vehicles and drivers efficiently to meet customer requirements.
- Monitor transport movements and respond to operational changes throughout the day.
- Liaise with drivers, customers and internal teams to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
- Manage delays, breakdowns and other operational issues, finding practical solutions quickly.
- Monitor driver working hours and ensure compliance with drivers'' hours regulations.
- Ensure transport activities meet relevant legal and company requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle movements, driver hours and transport activity.
- Coordinate collections and deliveries, keeping customers updated on any changes.
- Assist with vehicle and trailer availability and planning.
- Work closely with the wider transport team to improve efficiency and minimise empty running.
- Complete relevant transport administration, reporting and system updates.
We''re looking for someone with previous experience in transport planning, logistics or a similar environment, who understands the pressures and challenges of coordinating vehicles and drivers on a daily basis.
You will ideally have:
- Experience within transport planning, logistics or haulage.
- Good knowledge of UK transport operations and drivers'' hours regulations.
- Strong geographical knowledge of the UK.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- The ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Confidence using transport planning systems and Microsoft Office.
- The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a wider team.
The following would be advantageous:
- Experience within HGV transport, haulage or a similar logistics environment.
- Knowledge of fleet management and vehicle compliance.
- Experience using transport management/planning software.
- Experience with Haulage Exchange, Amazon Relay or Qargo.
- Previous experience working directly with HGV drivers and subcontractors.
- A valid CPC qualification/licence.

A valid CPC qualification/licence would be highly advantageous and may place the successful candidate towards the upper end of the £33,000-£36,000 salary range.
