Staff Nurse - Triage Urgent Care

Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for Band 5 nurses to join the Urgent Treatment Centres at New Cross Hospital and Phoenix as part of the Royal Wolverhampton Trust. The role focuses on delivering quality care, with support to learn a range of new skills and triage. Working as a Band 5 triage nurse within the Emergency Directorate offers opportunities to develop knowledge and skills, attend courses and progress in your career. Urgent care is a 24 hour, 7 day a week service and there will be an expectation to work nights.
Job responsibilities
To ensure safe and effective clinical practice.Practice within the NMC Standards of Practice and Behaviour for Nurses and MidwivesParticipate in the assessment of patient care needs, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of care in accordance with The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust policies and proceduresAdminister prescribed medication and treatment in a timely manner, in accordance with Trust policies and Professional guidelinesTake responsibility for groups of patients as required, with minimal supervision from senior staffDeliver evidence based care and promote the use of evidence based practiceLiaise effectively with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure timely delivery of care and develop good working relationshipsPractice within an ethical framework based upon respect for the well-being and safety of patientsMaintain accurate and legible records of care and other documentation in line with Trust and professional standardsTake personal responsibility for actions and omissions, and recognise personal accountabilityReport treatment, care, and any concerns promptly to senior staff to maintain effective communicationReport incidents and near misses promptly and take action to minimise future riskPractice in a way that ensures efficient and effective use of resourcesCritically appraise and synthesize outcomes of relevant research, evaluations and audits and apply information to improve practice

To manage and develop performance of the team and selfUndertake Trust and local competencies as requiredAttend courses and mandatory updates as required by the postSupport the Senior Sister/ Charge Nurse with E-rostering and KPIsPrioritise work and manage time effectively; seek assistance when neededRecognise personal limitations and pursue ongoing developmentSupport junior staff, unregistered staff and studentsDelegate appropriately and assist in induction of new staffParticipate in appraisals for ongoing personal development and revalidationAct as a positive role model and contribute to a positive learning environmentSupport orientation, induction programmes and clinical support strategies for staff and students

Qualifications and experience
QualificationsEssential: NMC registered nurseDesirable: Triage qualificationExperienceEssential: Emergency or Urgent Care experience; minimum of 1 year post registration
