Do you want to use your skills to make a real difference in people’s lives?At AQA, you’ll join the assessment technology group in Manchester. This team manages the systems that deliver over 3 million GCSE and A-level results every year. You’ll oversee software that supports the full lifecycle of exams, from entries through to post-results services, as well as an integration product built on Azure Integration Services that keeps data secure and reliable across all AQA systems and third parties.Purpose of the role
You’ll lead the delivery of software products that are critical to AQA’s mission. Working with internal teams and trusted suppliers, you’ll ensure change is delivered on time, to a high standard, and with continuous improvement at the heart of how you work.Key responsibilities
Lead cross-functional delivery teams to plan, develop, and support software productsEncourage collaboration, trust, and continuous improvement across the teamsIncrease quality through continuous improvement of: processes, people, and technologyFacilitate Product Increment (PI) planning and executionRun Scrum of Scrums meetings and keep workflows efficientEscalate issues, manage risks, and ensure governance is in placeAgree the scope and frequency of software releasesEnsure delivery aligns with ISO9001, ISO27001, and AQA policiesManage supplier delivery contracts and relationshipsProvide clear reporting on progress and performanceSupport financial, risk, business continuity, and information security processesKeep your own professional development up to dateWhat we’re looking for

This role reports to the Head of Software Delivery – EPandI (HoSD – EPandI).LandscapeThe Assessment Technology group reports directly into the Chief Executive Officer. The group operates in close partnership with the Enterprise Technology and Central Hubs departments. The Assessment Technology group is responsible for the operational systems that deliver over 3 million GCSE and A-level results annually. It includes the technology for assessment design and production, and the full lifecycle of exams series delivery from entry to post-results services.
