£55k - £70k + package

A Civil Engineering Contractor is seeking an experienced Health and Safety Manager to support the Group HSEQ Manager and Group HSEQ Director. The role involves continually improving and promoting health, safety, environmental, and quality standards, ensuring legal compliance, and elevating industry best practices.

Main Duties include:

Promoting a safety culture of ‘Safe Home Every Day’, leading by example, and supporting the group''s vision, mission, and values.

Embodiment and promotion of the Group''s safety policies across all levels of the business.

Acting as an ambassador for SHED and applying Behavioural Science principles within the HSEQ department.

Managing day-to-day operations of the HSEQ advisors team.

Collaborating with the COO for operational support and guidance.

Participating in innovation forums to improve safety practices.

Facilitating lessons learned and review panels to foster continuous improvement.

Overseeing incident investigations, audits, and inspections, ensuring timely and quality reporting.

Coordinating HSEQ resources to support operational sites and client requirements.

Liaising with external stakeholders such as HSE, EA, SEPA, and local authorities.

Reviewing and supporting incident investigations and reports.

Implementing lessons learned to prevent recurrence and upskilling staff as needed.

Representing the HSEQ department at meetings and maintaining third-party accreditations.

Providing technical HSEQ advice and preparing reports.

Supporting learning and development initiatives related to compliance training.

Assisting operational teams in risk planning and mitigation strategies.

Participating in planning and pre-start meetings to reduce risks.

Maintaining and improving the IMS certified system.

Promoting innovative ideas to enhance HSEQ standards.

Staying updated on HSEQ legislation and advising accordingly.

Conducting audits and inspections to ensure performance standards.

Advising on high-risk RAMS and representing the Group at HSEQ seminars.

Monitoring HSEQ team performance and promoting coaching and mentorship.

Performing any additional duties as agreed with the HSEQ leadership.
