Principal Infrastructure/Civil Engineer (General Civils and Residential) - BristolWe are recruiting a Principal Infrastructure/Civil Engineer to join our expanding Infrastructure Engineering team in Bristol. We seek a talented individual that can deliver a high-quality service, has the ability to think outside the box, and who enjoys a collaborative approach to developing pragmatic and innovative design solutions to the various technical challenges land development can present. The individual should have experience leading projects and teams, whilst also being comfortable getting hands-on with the technical design and production of drawings and documentation. We are looking for a candidate that has a good understanding of Civil Engineering best practice and standards, and the technical design skills to produce high quality work on a range of projects. The individual will need to use their initiative and professional judgment to support our client’s projects and goals.Responsibilities
Lead production of residential or general infrastructure development schemes, including highways, drainage, levels and plot engineering.Undertake an independent holistic lead role on major projects, working with others and managing and prioritising workload for junior team members.Design using relevant best practices and guidance (e.g., Manual for Streets, Design and Construction Guidance, CIRIA SuDS Manual, Sewerage Sector Guidance, Building Regulations, Local Authority design standards).Prepare drawings and calculations for both private and adoptable arrangements; obtain ordinary watercourse consent and technical approval from key authorities in relation to S104 and S38 agreements.Numerate and software literate with AutoCAD and 3D modelling tools (e.g., Civils3D); experience with drainage modelling software (e.g., Causeway Flow).Manage non-technical aspects such as contract management, financials, programme and resourcing; client and external-facing duties.Consultancy/private sector development background with a pragmatic approach and understanding of residential development from concept to construction.Demonstrate effective organisational and communication skills with a collaborative approach.Hold a full driving licence and have access to a car.Qualifications
BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering or related subject plus 6+ years of relevant postgraduate experience; ideally Chartered or Incorporated with a professional body (e.g., ICE).Experience leading in the production of residential or general infrastructure development schemes and managing project workload for junior team members.Experience with drafting drawings and calculations for private and adoptable schemes and securing approvals (S104/S38).Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civils3D, and drainage modelling tools.Good knowledge of Civil Engineering standards and practice; experience with design standards such as Manual for Streets and related guidance.Benefits
