Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers and achieve their full potential? We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and proactive Pastoral Lead to join a thriving educational setting in Colchester.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced pastoral professional, youth worker, behaviour mentor, teaching assistant, or safeguarding practitioner looking to take the next step in their career and make a lasting impact on students'' lives.
The Role
As Pastoral Lead, you will play a key role in promoting student wellbeing, attendance, behaviour, and engagement. You will work closely with students, families, staff, and external agencies to provide targeted support and ensure every learner has the opportunity to succeed.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting students with social, emotional and behavioural needs.
- Building positive relationships with students and their families.
- Leading interventions to improve attendance, behaviour and engagement.
- Working alongside safeguarding and SEND teams to support vulnerable learners.
- Monitoring student progress and implementing effective support plans.
- Liaising with external agencies and support services where required.
- Promoting a positive, inclusive, and nurturing school culture.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with children or young people in an educational, pastoral, youth work, or support setting.
- Can build strong professional relationships with students, families and colleagues.
- Has excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Is resilient, empathetic and solution-focused.
- Has a good understanding of safeguarding and student welfare.
- Remains calm under pressure and can effectively manage challenging situations.
- Is committed to helping every young person realise their potential.
