Overview

Brockenhurst College has a fantastic opportunity for a Lecturer in Early Childhood and Health Studies to join their team on a part time, permanent basis. We are an expanding department and therefore seeking motivated and forward-thinking individuals to join an inclusive, caring and vibrant team to teach on the LEVEL 2 and LEVEL 3 Health studies pathways, and an opportunity to teach on early childhood if required from September 2025. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £33,367 - £44,365 pro rata per annum. (Unqualified teachers £26,436 to £33,367 pro rata per annum.)We are particularly interested to hear from you if you have extensive sector experience, a degree in nursing, paramedic science, pharmaceutical or health and social care. If you hold qualified teacher for learning and skills (QTLS) this would be an advantage or willing to undertake teacher training. We are also keen to hear from applicants who have an interest in digital technology, simulated and immersive learning for the health and social care sector, as this will form part of our curriculum. Experience of teaching exam units and a track record of excellent outcomes for students. Teaching may include unit specialisms as follows: Working in health and social care, physiological disorders, and their care, meeting individual care and support needs, work experience in health and social care, health psychology, complementary therapies.

Responsibilities

Teaching on courses as agreed with the Head of CurriculumActing as Course Leader, when requestedPreparing and marking student work, monitoring progress towards individual targets, keeping records, IV and providing timely reports/reviews to students, parents, employers and College managers, as appropriateWorking closely with other colleagues to respond to the needs of studentsPausPaying due attention to the principles of inclusive learning including: support for students with learning difficulties and disabilities; extension resources/activities for students of higher ability; general resources, including the use of Information Learning TechnologyContributing to the design, delivery and future planning and development of the curriculum including blended learning approachesContributing to the teaching/learning resource bank including e-resources for the relevant subject/coursesMaintaining an up-to-date knowledge of developments in the relevant subject/course

Ideal candidate / Qualifications

Degree or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant subject area Health, Paramedic Science, Social Work or NursingExcellent teaching or training skillsCurrent knowledge and understanding of current developments in the Health SectorSupportive and positive approach to teaching and learningThe ability to relate well to learners of all abilities and to assess learner needs
