The HR Assistant supports the HR department by handling administrative tasks such as recruitment, employee records, payroll support, and policy implementation. Acts as a first contact for HR queries, ensuring smooth operations while maintaining confidentiality and compliance.DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:Post job adverts and coordinate interviewsAssist with candidate shortlisting and prepare employment contractsSupport onboarding and induction processesMaintain employee records and process HR paperworkEnsure GDPR compliance and assist with reference checksRecord absences and monitor attendancePrepare reports on leave and absencesAssist with policy updates, investigations, and staff communicationSupport performance reviews and staff eventsRespond to HR queries and assist with internal communicationsDemonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skillsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:NVQ Level 1, GCSE D-G, ESOL, or equivalent; Level 1 English, Math and ICT skills1 year administrative experienceAbility to handle confidential informationStrong organizational skills and proficiency in Microsoft OfficePREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:CIPD Level 3 or working towards itExperience with HR software (e.g., MyHR, Dayforce)Knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practicesAdditional HR experience preferredVSE is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity and inclusion.
