We are looking for an experienced and fully qualified (CIPD Level 7) HR Consultant to provide high-quality, pragmatic and commercially focused HR support across a broad range of generalist and complex employee relations matters. This role would suit a confident HR professional with strong UK employment law knowledge and hands-on experience supporting managers through organisational change, TUPE transfers, restructures, disciplinary and grievance processes, sickness absence management, performance issues, recruitment, contract work, and the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
The successful candidate will be able to build trusted relationships quickly, provide clear and balanced advice, and manage sensitive casework with professionalism, sound judgement and attention to detail. You should be able to provide a friendly and flexible approach to the HR needs of our clients who require varying levels of support and a different approach to how this is applied.
Key responsibilities
- Provide expert HR advice and guidance to managers on a wide range of employee relations matters.
- Manage complex casework including disciplinaries, grievances, capability, sickness absence and performance management.
- Support and advise on organisational change programmes, including restructures, redundancy processes and consultation.
- Lead or support TUPE transfer activity, including due diligence, consultation, employee communications and related documentation.
- Provide advice and guidance to managers to enable them to manage employee matters confidently, consistently and in line with employment legislation and best practice.
- Prepare clear and accurate HR documentation, including letters, report writing, meeting notes, case summaries and outcome correspondence.
- Identify risk, provide practical recommendations and ensure appropriate escalation of complex or sensitive matters.
- Develop, review and implement HR policies, procedures and templates that are legally compliant, practical and appropriate for different working environments and industries.
- Support recruitment activity, including research to mitigate potential challenges, writing adverts, selection processes and interview guidance.
- Draft, review and advise on employment contracts, contractual variations and related HR documentation.
- Provide flexible HR consultancy support across a range of industries, including regulated
- and people-focused environments including the care sector.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders to deliver timely, professional and solution-focused HR support.
About you
- Hold CIPD Level 7 qualification and have a minimum of 5 years experience of working at this level.
- Hold a full UK driving licence and have your own vehicle.
- Experienced HR generalist with a strong track record of managing complex employee relations cases.
- Sound knowledge of UK employment law and confidence applying this in practical workplace situations.
- Experience supporting restructures, redundancy consultation and organisational change.
- Knowledge and practical experience of managing TUPE transfers.
- Proficient in recruitment processes, employment contract work, contractual changes and HR policy and procedure development.
- Able to adapt HR advice and support across different industries, with the confidence to work in the care sector and other regulated environments.
- Confident advising senior managers and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex matters clearly and sensitively.
- Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Professional, discreet and resilient, with sound judgement and a balanced approach to risk.
