Reeson Education is recruiting an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant for a primary school in Eastleigh, starting in January 2027. This Higher Level Teaching Assistant position is suited to a confident practitioner who is comfortable taking increased responsibility within the classroom, including delivering planned learning, leading interventions and providing whole-class cover where required.

Key Responsibilities

The Higher Level Teaching Assistant will deliver planned learning activities to individuals, groups and whole classes.

A Higher Level Teaching Assistant will provide class cover during teacher absence or PPA where required.

Lead targeted literacy, numeracy and other interventions designed by teaching staff.

The Higher Level Teaching Assistant will adapt activities to support pupils working at different levels.

Support positive behaviour, engagement and established classroom routines.

A Higher Level Teaching Assistant will contribute observations to assessment and progress monitoring.

Work closely with teachers to ensure continuity of learning.

The Higher Level Teaching Assistant will become an established part of the school team, building consistent relationships with pupils and staff.

What We''re Looking For in a Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Previous Higher Level Teaching Assistant experience, an HLTA qualification, or substantial classroom experience involving class cover and leading learning.

Confidence delivering planned lessons independently.

Strong classroom and behaviour management.

Good understanding of the primary curriculum.

Reliable, organised and able to communicate effectively with teaching staff.

Strong safeguarding awareness.
