Health & Safety Specialist

Pyou UK - International Recruitment Agency is looking for a Health and Safety Specialist on behalf of our client, a Fashion and Arts University based in London.

OverviewOur team is seeking a Health and Safety Specialist to join a prestigious institution in the education sector. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact by enhancing safety culture, ensuring compliance with UK legislation, and promoting best practices across campus operations.

Key responsibilities

Ensure full compliance with UK health and safety regulations and industry best practices.

Develop, implement, and review HandS policies, procedures, and initiatives.

Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and support emergency preparedness.

Support in the development and delivery HandS training programs for faculty, staff, and students.

Conduct safety induction and orientation for new employees and academics.

Promote a strong safety culture through awareness campaigns and engagement initiatives.

Support in investigating accidents, near-misses, and hazards, identifying root causes and corrective actions.

Investigate incidents, analyse root causes, and implement corrective actions.

Collaborate with multiple departments to maintain safe facilities, laboratories, workshops, and public spaces.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.

2+ years’ HandS experience, ideally in education, research, or a similar environment.

Strong knowledge of UK HandS legislation, including COSHH, RIDDOR, PUWER, and Fire Safety regulations.

Confident communicator, capable of delivering engaging training sessions.

Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities.

Fluency in English required; Italian language skills are a plus.
