About the Role:
You will be working on a one-to-one or small group basis, providing tailored academic support to students preparing for their GCSEs. Many of the learners will have Special Educational Needs (SEN), gaps in education, or require a more nurturing and flexible approach to learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and personalised GCSE-level lessons (core subjects preferred)
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual SEN and learning needs
- Build positive, trusting relationships with students
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to relevant stakeholders
- Support students in developing confidence and independence in their learning
Requirements:
- Proven experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
- Strong knowledge of the GCSE curriculum
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive attitude
- Ability to plan and deliver creative and engaging sessions
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
Desirable:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant tutoring experience
- Experience supporting vulnerable children, including those with SEMH needs or those who are looked after
