The Role
An Ofsted-rated Good secondary school in Birmingham is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Design Technology Teacher with a specialism in Food Technology and/or Resistant Materials to join their department from September 2026 on a full-time, long-term basis.
The successful candidate will deliver engaging and practical lessons across KS3 and KS4, with a particular focus on Food Preparation & Nutrition. You will support students in developing a range of culinary, nutritional, and technical skills while encouraging creativity, independence, and confidence in practical learning environments.
The role will involve planning and delivering lessons, preparing students for coursework and assessments, monitoring progress, and maintaining safe and organised teaching spaces in line with health and safety requirements. You will play a key role in helping students understand the importance of nutrition, food science, and practical application within the curriculum.
The Candidate
The successful candidate will:
- Hold QTS; ECTs are welcome to apply
- Have experience teaching Design Technology at secondary level
- Be confident delivering Food Preparation & Nutrition across KS3 and KS4
- Ideally have experience teaching Resistant Materials, although this is not essential
- Demonstrate strong classroom management and organisational skills
- Be passionate about practical learning and committed to raising student achievement
