The Role
A secondary school in Solihull is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Design Technology Teacher to join its department from September 2026 on a full-time, long-term basis.
The successful candidate will teach Design Technology across KS3 and KS4, with the ability to contribute across Resistant Materials, Food Technology, and Product Design. You will deliver engaging practical and theory-based lessons that encourage creativity, innovation, problem-solving, and technical understanding while helping students develop valuable life and vocational skills.
Working within a supportive department, you will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality lessons, assessing student progress, maintaining excellent health and safety standards within practical learning environments, and supporting students in completing a range of design and manufacturing projects. You will contribute to an inspiring curriculum that prepares learners for further study and future careers within design, engineering, hospitality, manufacturing, and related industries.
The Candidate
The successful candidate will:
  • Hold QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification; ECTs are welcome to apply
  • Have experience teaching Design Technology across KS3 and KS4
  • Be confident delivering lessons in Resistant Materials, Food Technology, and/or Product Design
  • Demonstrate excellent classroom and workshop management skills
  • Have a thorough understanding of health and safety procedures within practical subjects
  • Be committed to raising student achievement and encouraging creativity
  • Have a passion for practical education and developing students' technical and design skills
