The Role
An Ofsted-rated Good secondary school in Birmingham is seeking a creative and enthusiastic Design Technology Teacher with a Food Technology / Resistant Materials specialism to join its successful department from September 2026 on a full-time, long-term basis.
The successful candidate will primarily deliver Food Technology and Hospitality & Catering across KS3 and KS4, inspiring students to develop practical cooking skills, food science knowledge, nutrition awareness, food safety, and an understanding of the hospitality industry. Experience or the ability to contribute to Resistant Materials lessons would be advantageous.
Working within a supportive Design Technology department, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, practical lessons, assessing student progress, and creating a safe, inclusive learning environment where students can develop confidence, creativity, and technical skills. You will support learners preparing for Hospitality & Catering qualifications while maintaining high expectations for achievement and behaviour.
The Candidate
The successful candidate will:
  • Hold QTS; ECTs are welcome to apply
  • Have experience teaching Food Technology across KS3 and KS4
  • Ideally have experience or confidence teaching Hospitality & Catering
  • Experience teaching Resistant Materials would be advantageous
  • Demonstrate excellent classroom and practical workshop management skills
  • Be committed to supporting student progress and raising attainment
  • Have a passion for practical education and inspiring young people through Design Technology
