OverviewRole: Financial Controller. Location: Manchester / Southport / Hybrid. Fletchers Group seeks a dynamic and detail-oriented Financial Controller to own financial control, reporting, and compliance across the business, enabling scalable and sustainable growth. The role reports to the Group CFO and supports strategic decision-making and finance leadership. It is a hands-on leadership position focused on assessing current capabilities, identifying gaps, and setting the stage for transformation, including leading a revamp of reporting processes for faster, more accurate, and insightful outputs. Main Responsibilities
Production of Monthly Group Management Accounts and MI Packs
Prepare and consolidate financial statements for the group, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flows
Work with FPandA to prepare management information (MI) packs with key financial metrics, variance analysis and commentary for banking partners
Balance Sheet Reconciliations
Conduct regular reconciliations of balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and integrity
Investigate and resolve discrepancies identified during reconciliation
Cash Flow Forecasting
Develop and maintain cash flow forecasting models to project group cash flow
Monitor cash flow against forecasts and provide recommendations for improving cash management
Payroll and Bonus
Approve monthly payroll, review payroll calculations for accuracy and regulatory compliance
Prepare and maintain monthly bonus accruals
VAT, CT, P11d, and PSA Reporting
Prepare and submit VAT returns, corporation tax (CT) returns, P11d forms and other tax filings
Ensure compliance with tax laws and keep abreast of changes
Annual Group Statutory Accounts
Prepare and coordinate production of annual group statutory accounts in line with accounting standards
Coordinate and liaise with external auditors during the audit process
Prepare financial schedules and documentation to facilitate the audit
Companies House FilingPrepare and file necessary documents with Companies House, ensuring timely statutory filings
Data, Analysis, and InsightRespond to ad-hoc data and analysis requests from management, providing accurate insights to support decision-making
Management ResponsibilitiesLead and manage a small team of finance professionals; provide guidance, mentorship, and professional development
Essential Skills And Experience
Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA)
Proven experience in financial accounting and reporting
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Desirable Skills and Experience
Experience in the Legal sector
Use of a case management system
Commercially led
