Overview

Facilities Manager - Soft Services, Waste and Sustainability Manager at Croydon Health Services NHS Trust. Full Time, Permanent, Band 8A. The post holder will be professionally accountable for the Trust’s Support Services and lead the operational direction of Facility Services. This role may involve ad hoc weekend working on a rota basis and on call.

Key Responsibilities

Responsible for the following services: Domestic Services; Grounds and Gardens; Laundry and Linen; Portering Services; Postal Services; Uniforms; Waste and Sustainability Management; Managing in-house services; Monitoring officer(s); Post room.Lead a programme of Patient Environment inspections and ensure maximum scores in PLACE, National Standards of Cleanliness, and related assessments.Establish clear and transparent KPIs for the services and ensure delivery at the required level.Deputise for the Head of Facilities across the full range of duties.Act as the subject matter expert for Waste Management; lead in the delivery of the Trust Sustainability Green Plan.Engage in PLACE standards to achieve high inspection scores, remedy issues, and apply lessons learned.Manage pest control, post, laundry and linen, waste management, and grounds and gardens; act as relief manager for travel transport when the manager is on leave.Collaborate across the organisation to ensure understanding and compliance with environmental legislation and trust policy; implement best practice in new works, projects, and areas of non-compliance; communicate with stakeholders on waste and environmental issues.Liaise with the Environment Agency, Councils and other statutory authorities on waste management issues; manage the Trust’s waste contractors; carry out external and internal audits (Duty of Care).Conduct waste incident investigations and reporting; develop waste and recycling opportunities with procurement and external agencies; manage Trust-wide waste disposal contracts and provide KPIs for disposal contracts.Aim for reductions in waste in line with Department of Health guidance; ensure compliance with Health Technical Memorandum 07-01 and other waste legislation.Ensure effective resource management and budget control; use benchmarking and industry best practices to achieve value for money and implement cost improvement and efficiency plans; provide information to support annual and monthly budget setting; contribute to cost improvement initiatives and develop business cases for investment requirements.Responsible for budgeting for services within scope; ensure compliance with Trust Standing Financial Instructions; support and develop grant funding or other finance schemes for carbon reduction/sustainability initiatives; present economic or environmental sustainability proposals and business cases to management for funding consideration.Qualifications and Requirements
