School Facilities Assistant

Location: Wimbledon, South West London
Hours: Mondayandndash;Friday, 7:30amandndash;4:00pm
Contract: Temporary to Permanent Opportunity

Berkeley Scott Recruitment is looking for a reliable, proactive and hardworking Facilities Assistant / Porter to join a busy school in Wimbledon. This is an excellent temp-to-perm opportunity for someone looking for a long term role within a school environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Moving furniture and setting up rooms for meetings, events and examinations.

• Receiving deliveries, distributing mail and managing lost property.

• Providing professional support to staff, students, visitors and members of the public.

• Managing school gates during student arrival and departure times.

• Opening, locking and securing school buildings as required.

• Monitoring CCTV and reporting security concerns or suspicious activity.

• Issuing keys and security passes where appropriate.

• Reporting maintenance issues, damage and health and safety hazards.

• Supporting emergency procedures, including fire alarms and building evacuations.

• Assisting with traffic management and general site duties.

Requirements

• Previous experience in facilities, portering or a similar role is desirable but not essential.

• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

• Comfortable with physical tasks, including lifting and moving furniture.

• A reliable, flexible and proactive approach to work.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Good awareness of health and safety procedures.

• Manual handling training, or willingness to complete the required training.
