Electrical & Electronic System Engineer

Salary: -45,00057,000 DOE + 10% bonus

Jackson Hogg are delighted to be working with a global leader in instrumentation equipment which are looking to bring an Electrical & Electronic System Engineer to their team.-With over 60 years of driving innovation, this client employs more than 11,000 people worldwide at over 90 locations on all continents.

This is a permanent, fully on site role based in County Durham, North East of England.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and document a complete and complex framework, system, or product. Can involve circuit design & analysis, interface design (e.g. communications, cabling), testing & validation, characterising and integrating new components in existing platforms, and collaborating with mechanical, electrical and software engineers to deliver overall solutions.
  • Prepare requirements documents and manage verification/validation activities.
  • Define, manage and document the evolution of technical platforms, system interfaces, input/outputs, and other technical issues to ensure system level hardware and/or software compatibility. -
  • Support the integration of Alpha and Beta prototype tools, and optimise tool configurations, whilst identifying, analysing, and resolving system design weaknesses. -
  • Influence future products by contributing to the framework (architecture) design used across multiple products or systems. -
  • Ensure that electrical designs comply with industry standards and regulations, whilst working with external bodies to obtain necessary certifications.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of standards in order to provide advice to internal colleagues.
  • Manage 3rd party contractors for the delivery of specialist services (e.g. PCB design).
  • Contribute to or lead inter-disciplinary design reviews.
  • Transfer knowledge and systems to production: develop and document calibration and alignment processes, prepare tool characterisation test plans, develop test-jigs, train Tech Support and production teams.

Key Requirements:

  • Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or equivalent experience.

  • At least 5 years as an Electrical/Electronics Engineer, and ideally at least 2 years as a Systems Engineer (not a necessity but would be a great bonus).

  • Good understanding of motion control and high-accuracy motion systems.

  • System-level thinking

  • Experience with PLC systems would be advantageous.
