Deputy Director (Research & Engagement)

Overview
Deputy Director (Research and Engagement) for the Leeds Institute for Societal Futures (LISF). This part-time (0.4 FTE) leadership role is within LISF’s leadership team, reporting to the Director and working alongside another Deputy Director and the Head of LISF to deliver the Institute’s mission. You will lead the delivery of the research and engagement strategic vision, contribute to growing internal and external networks, and help build interdisciplinary, challenge-led research and engagement across the University and with external partners.The LISF aims to co-create impact through interdisciplinary collaboration, external partnerships, and knowledge exchange that advances societal futures. The Institute will engage in impact and outreach activities from local to global levels and develop long-lasting partnerships with policymakers, businesses, government bodies, the third sector, and other stakeholders.Responsibilities
Lead the delivery of LISF’s research and engagement strategic vision and resource its delivery.Work across the University to engage LISF’s community and external organisations.Develop and maintain partnerships with external stakeholders and communities to drive interdisciplinary, impact-focused research and knowledge exchange.Promote innovative initiatives related to societal futures and enhance the University’s external reputation in research and engagement.Shape LISF’s approach to co-creation, co-production, and external collaboration, supporting a revolving doorway model of knowledge exchange.Support the Director in leading LISF, working with the Head of LISF and another Deputy Director to deliver on the Institute’s mission.Position LISF as a sector leader in co-creation and engagement across global challenges.Qualifications
PhD or equivalent experience in a societal-challenge topic.Substantial experience in developing, supporting, leading, and/or delivering impactful, co-produced research and engagement activities.Significant external partnership and stakeholder relationship experience.Ability to enhance LISF’s and the University’s external reputation and leadership by promoting innovative research and engagement initiatives related to societal futures.Contact
