Overview

The opportunity At NHS Resolution, we manage over £3 billion in indemnity schemes, including the Clinical Negligence Scheme for Trusts (£2.8 billion in 2024/25) and General Practice Indemnity Schemes (£146 million in 2024/25). We play a crucial role in compensating for negligent care and resolving disputes, aiming to prevent future incidents and avoid distressing court proceedings. As our Deputy Director of Finance and Procurement, you''ll lead the Finance function, supporting our strategy and business plan. You''ll manage and motivate the Finance and Procurement teams, fostering high performance and continuous improvement. This role offers the unique proposition to lead a diverse Finance team and also oversee the financial management of our indemnity schemes. Furthermore, participation in the operational delivery group will see you engaging in diverse organisational-wide projects and initiatives.What you''ll be doing

Reporting to the CFO, you''ll lead the Finance function, supporting our strategy and business plan.Leading business planning and budgeting, developing financial strategies for indemnity schemes.Ensuring robust financial controls, overseeing internal audit and counter fraud, managing annual accounts, and leading procurement for value and compliance.Ensuring effective financial management and corporate planning.Supporting papers for two Board subcommittees - Reserving and Pricing Committee and Audit and Risk Committee.Building effective stakeholder relationships, with a strategic approach to optimising partnerships, and ensuring robust governance and compliance.Leading and managing the Finance and Procurement teams, fostering high performance and continuous improvement.What you''ll bring

Qualified CCAB Accountant, or equivalent.You will have a varied background with a range of finance experience in different areas. You could be, working as a head of finance or already working at deputy level in the public sector within, for example, an ALB, wider government or NHS Trust.You''ll need to be highly numerate and able to quickly grasp the central government finance regime and the broad trends influencing the health sector.Experience of providing exceptional leadership to multi-disciplinary teams, excel in stakeholder management, and establishing strong organisational partnerships.A track record of leading, motivating and engaging teams through and post change programmes in an environment of continuous improvement and cohesive thinking.Experience of managing procurement and an understanding of procurement controls is desirable but not essential.With a focus on governance and compliance, you''ll also need to be innovative, resourceful, and committed to delivering better outcomes for those we serve.What we offer in return
