Overview

We are currently seeking a

Consultant Psychiatrist in General Adult (CRHTT - Southwest)

to join Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT). The post is based at Colne House Watford with regular home visits across the catchment area. The successful candidate will work with the multi-disciplinary team, including SAS and Trainee doctors allocated to SWCRHTT. Service users are primarily experiencing mental health crisis or stepping down from inpatient services, so active involvement in assessment and care planning is vital. The post holder is expected to work independently day-to-day and provide Clinical/Medical Leadership for SWCRHTT, including supervision of junior staff.The role involves supporting diagnostic assessments and treatment for patients with severe, complex, and high-risk psychiatric conditions, and close collaboration with community and acute care pathway colleagues, GPs, and carers.Responsibilities

Providing Clinical Leadership to the multi-disciplinary teamProviding expert clinical input (including clinical assessment) for patients with complex presentationsInitiating and supervising clinical treatment plans for service users waiting MH admissionRegularly reviewing service users waiting for MH admission to adapt management plans toward least restrictive optionsMulti-agency support and management of frequent attenders to the acute pathwayCollaborating with Mental Health Liaison teams, Mental Health Urgent Care Centre, Adult Community Mental Health teams in Watford and Borehamwood, PATH first episode Psychosis teams and inpatient wards to ensure smooth transitions between servicesWorking with partner organisations to support joined-up working, policy and safe practice development across the wider system (including local Drug and Alcohol services, housing, police, probation, primary care, ambulance services and voluntary sector)Joint managerial oversight of performance, quality and safety of the service with Team Leaders and Service ManagerAttending regular patient flow meetings within HPFT and relevant Acute Trusts as neededContact for further details / informal visits: Dr Kiran Vishwanath, Medical Lead (Email: kiran.viswanath@nhs.net)Seniority level
