HMP Five Wells is a category C resettlement prison based in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, and houses around 1,687 patients. You will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team and be supported by a second Psychiatrist who is also our national psychiatry lead.Hours
Sessions will take place on site between 9am–5pm, Monday to Friday. This position can be offered for either 2 or 3 days per week. If you are looking for a full-time role we can offer a split role across 2 sites.Salary
You will receive an annual salary up to £189,900 FTE – depending on experience.How we will support you
You will be part of a team of 15 plus experienced and supportive Consultant psychiatristsYou will be able to attend monthly Consultant meetings and 1:1 clinical supervisionBespoke induction, including our Introducing Health in Justice training courseCompetency frameworkCandidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK and, due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.Main duties
As a Consultant Psychiatrist, your responsibilities will vary. You will:Provide excellent clinical care, assessment and treatment to patients on the on-site caseloadActively participate in the strategic direction of the mental health service, lead senior mental health clinicians on service developments, and provide clinical supervisionWork within the multidisciplinary team to review referrals, determine appropriate treatment plans, conduct risk assessments, and engage in multi-professional complex case reviewsIf you are interested in career development, we offer a wide range of opportunities for you to develop your skills and experience, including both internal and external options.Benefits and development

Registered professional with current GMC registrationSpecialist Registration in General Adult or Forensic PsychiatryApproved under section 12(2) of the MHS 1983Understanding of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency workingUp-to-date knowledge in adult psychiatry and PDAwareness of current issues in mental health service provision, policy and legislationSecure environments are challenging yet rewarding places for healthcare professionals.
