Overview

Main duties of the job are to demonstrate and develop the qualities and behaviours that reflect the best of General Practice and the values of CGPN; patient-focused, creating evidence-based solutions with a can-do, empowering approach. Patient safety and quality of care are the priority; the lead’s role is to ensure processes and services meet this standard.Responsibilities

Oversee and develop clinical governance processes within the practice and link with the senior medical team within CGPN (Medical Director, Chair and fellow leads) to support clinical governance at service level and feed into the organisational clinical governance structure.Attend regular monthly meetings and report to Clinical Board.Work with the Practice Manager and support practice staff on ad hoc clinical queries and issues.QOF and enhanced service planning/review and optimisation of achievement.Link with the Data management team/workflow team to implement systems to optimise quality of care within the practice.Day-to-day information governance responsibilities and personal professional development activities.Maintain credibility and support to the practice team by undertaking patient-facing clinical sessions within the service (sessions to come from within the clinical lead session allotment).Undertake clinical work within the practice to test and refine processes operationally, and lead by example.Provide professional leadership, development and management; effectively communicate with the clinical team and lead regular team meetings.In liaison with the Practice Manager, ensure the GP clinical rota is covered and help manage contingency arrangements when needed.Work with the CQC Registered Manager, Practice Manager and Governance Team to prepare for CQC inspections and respond to any improvements recommended by CQC.Ensure the service provided at the Practice is consistently safe, caring, effective, responsive and well-led.Induction of new Salaried GPs.Networking: Represent the practice at a local level with the PCN and other stakeholders.Clinical Governance

Work with the Practice Team to ensure ongoing clinical compliance in line with standards of best practice.Develop and lead a clinical audit programme in the Practice that reviews clinical practice and outcomes against best practice guidelines and standards.Ensure the clinical team responds to clinical audit feedback and utilise learning opportunities provided through this process.In partnership with the Practice Manager, participate in managing clinical complaints/incidents.Be or support the Practice Safeguarding Lead for children and vulnerable adults.Cultural Aspects

Demonstrate and develop the qualities and behaviours that reflect the best of General Practice and the values of CGPN; patient-focused, evidence-based solutions, with a can-do, empowering approach.Develop a practice culture of mutual support and an ambition to provide the best care for patients, creating conditions for staff to realise their full potential.Provide an overall sense of stewardship and responsibility towards patient health and care; act as a figurehead at practice level and a role model for the team, exemplifying flexibility, commitment and professionalism.Work closely with practice managers to bring together the skills of both professions for the benefit of patients, staff and the practice.Contract and Registration

The practice operates under the General Medical Service (GMS) contract for General Practice. Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC is required (licence to practise must be in place prior to starting in post).Additional Information
