An opportunity to join the Neonatal Unit as a passionate, driven Occupational Therapist in a leadership position within a multidisciplinary team to support development of premature and medically fragile infants and empower families to confidently care for their baby.
Responsibilities
Provide clinical leadership for the neonatal occupational therapy service and contribute to both operational and clinical activities.
Lead service development and audit processes, working with Neonatal Consultants, Nurses and other AHPs to deliver high-quality care.
Promote infant neurodevelopment by enabling parents/caregivers to provide developmentally supportive care and adapting the environment for optimal brain development.
Support the parent-infant relationship by helping parents understand their infant’s behavioural cues and signs of stress, enabling them to participate in caregiving activities.
Use specialist assessment and early interventions focusing on sensory, motor, attention, regulation and play development to help infants reach developmental potential and participate in co-occupations such as sleeping, eating and early interaction.
Work within the FiCare model and as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes for neonatal patients and their families.
Engage in opportunities for professional development, contribute to quality improvement and keep up to date with best practice in neonatal occupational therapy.
Requirements / Qualifications
Experience in Paediatric or Neonatal care; ability to work in a leadership role within a multidisciplinary team.
Commitment to family-centred care and early intervention approaches in neonatal settings.
Willingness to contribute to service development, audits and research activities as part of a dynamic team.
