About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and technically capable Civil Technician to join our growing London-based design consultancy. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced civil engineers, infrastructure specialists and other design professionals, contributing to the delivery of a diverse range of civil engineering and infrastructure projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Civil Technician looking to develop their technical skills and gain experience across a variety of projects within a collaborative consultancy environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed civil engineering drawings and technical documentation for infrastructure and development projects.
• Produce and amend drawings using AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D.
• Assist with the design and detailing of:
  • Roads and highways
  • Drainage and sewerage systems
  • Earthworks and levels
  • Pavements
  • External works and site infrastructure
• Prepare engineering layouts, long sections, cross sections, profiles and construction details.
• Work from engineers' calculations, design information, surveys and project specifications to produce accurate technical drawings.
• Assist engineers with the preparation of design packages for planning, technical approval and construction.
• Coordinate civil engineering drawings with architectural, structural, utilities and other design information.
• Review drawings and designs to ensure accuracy, consistency and compliance with project requirements.
• Liaise with engineers and other members of the project team to resolve technical and drawing-related issues.
• Assist with the preparation of schedules, specifications and other project documentation where required.
• Maintain drawing standards, templates and document control procedures.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of CAD and design processes within the consultancy.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

• Previous experience working as a Civil Technician, CAD Technician or similar role within a civil engineering consultancy or related environment.
• Good working knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Understanding of civil engineering principles and construction methods.
• Experience producing technical engineering drawings to a high standard.
• Good attention to detail and ability to work accurately to deadlines.
• Ability to interpret engineering information, drawings, surveys and specifications.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable:

• Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D.
• Experience in highways, drainage, infrastructure or residential/commercial development.
• Familiarity with UK design standards and guidance, such as DMRB, Manual for Streets, Sewers for Adoption and/or relevant local authority requirements.
• Experience working with topographical surveys, point clouds or utility information.
• HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience using drainage design software such as MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage.

Experience within the UK civil engineering and development sector is advantageous, but we are also interested in candidates with strong technical ability and a genuine interest in developing within the consultancy environment.
