Location: Brentwood, Essex
Contract: 3 Months Fixed-Term (with potential for permanent employment)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 07:00 - 16:00 (flexibility required)
Rate: -13.00 - -15.00 per hour (depending on experience)

Overview We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Yard Operative to join a busy construction and civil engineering business in Brentwood.

This is a hands-on role supporting the day-to-day operation of the yard, ensuring materials, equipment, and plant are maintained, organised, and available for site teams.

This is initially a 3-month contract with the possibility of a permanent position for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities

• Loading and unloading deliveries safely and efficiently.
• Organising and maintaining the yard, storage areas, and welfare facilities.
• Preparing materials, tools, and equipment for site projects.
• Carrying out stock checks and reporting shortages.
• Assisting with the movement of plant and machinery within the yard.
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and tidy working environment.
• Inspecting equipment and reporting defects or damage.
• Supporting drivers and site teams with material collections and deliveries.
• Following all Health & Safety policies and procedures.
• Undertaking general labouring and yard duties as required.

• Previous experience in a yard, construction, builders merchant, warehouse, or civils environment.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety practices.
• Physically fit and capable of manual handling duties.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Full UK Driving Licence preferred.

• Forklift Truck (FLT) licence.
• Construction or Civil Engineering industry experience.
• CSCS Card.
• Experience operating small plant or equipment.
