Your new companyHays Education is working in partnership with a number of inclusive and well-supported secondary schools across London, many of which provide specialist provision for students with visual impairments (VI). Due to growing demand, we are seeking dedicated Visual Impairment Specialist Teaching Assistants to support pupils in accessing education effectively and confidently.Your new roleAs a Visual Impairment Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students with partial or full sight loss to fully engage in school life and achieve their academic potential.You will work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external specialists to ensure students receive the adaptations and support they need in both classroom and wider school environments.Your responsibilities will include:Supporting students with visual impairments across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and occasionally Key Stage 5)Adapting learning materials into accessible formats (e.g. enlarged text, braille, audio resources)Assisting students in navigating the school environment safely and independentlySupporting the use of assistive technology and specialist equipmentPromoting independence, confidence, and inclusion within the classroomWorking collaboratively with teachers and specialist services to implement personalised support strategiesWhat you''ll need to succeedTo be successful in this role, you will:Have experience supporting individuals with visual impairments (education or care ..... full job details .....
