Tutor (SEMH experience)

Are you passionate about making a difference in a young person''s life? Do you have the creativity, patience, and resilience to support a student at risk of permanent exclusion (PEX) to re-engage with learning?

We are seeking a dedicated Alternative Provision Tutor to work 1:1 with a Year 7 student (soon to be Year 8) who is currently working at a Key Stage 2 level in English and Maths. This is a unique opportunity to build a meaningful relationship and help shape a brighter future for a young learner. This position is for 10-15 hours per week.

• At risk of permanent exclusion (PEX)
• Presents with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs
• Can become emotionally dysregulated
• Has interests in music, beat boxing, dance, and fashion
• Needs a trusting, consistent relationship with a supportive adult

About you:

• Minimum 1 year of experience in UK schools as a TA, SEN TA, Cover Supervisor, Teacher, SENCO, or similar
• Experience supporting learners with SEMH needs
• Skilled in de-escalation and emotional regulation strategies
• • Experience working with young people with additional needs or those at risk of exclusion
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a nurturing, empathetic approach
  • Ability to deliver or support learning in KS2-level Maths and English
  • Creative and adaptable, with a passion for engaging young people through their interests
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures

Hours - 10-15 Hours per week- for the right candidate, this can be increased to full time with additional tuition opportunities
