Prospero Teaching are looking to appoint enthusiastic and compassionate Tutors to support children and young people in Winchester and nearby areas. These roles are designed to help learners re-engage with education, identify gaps in their knowledge, and build confidence through tailored, interest-led sessions.
As a Tutor, you will:
Tutoring is delivered 1:1, typically in Maths, English, and Science. Your first priority will be to build a trusting relationship with the learner through games, fun activities, and conversation. Once rapport is established, you''ll assess their strengths and areas for development, and plan engaging sessions that meet their individual needs.
Progress is expected to be gradual and steady-we value small steps and consistent encouragement over rapid results.
Weekly Reporting:
Tutors are required to submit a weekly report via our secure portal, detailing:
- Engagement levels
- Activities completed
- Progress made
Hours Available:
We have vacancies ranging from 2 to 15 hours per week, typically during school hours. Examples of how hours may be structured:
- 4 hours/week: 2 hours across 2 days or 1 hour across 4 days
- 5 hours/week: 1 hour daily, Monday-Friday
- 6 hours/week: 2 hours across 3 days, 3 hours across 2 days, or 1.5 hours across 4 days
- 10 hours/week: 2 hours daily, Monday-Friday
- 15 hours/week: 3 hours daily, Monday-Friday
About you:
- Experienced in teaching or supporting young people in a UK educational setting (minimum 1 year required)
- Skilled at building rapport and adapting your approach to suit individual learners
- Confident in planning and delivering sessions in Maths, English, and Science
- Patient, creative, and committed to helping children thrive

Essential & Desirable Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with young people
To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:
- Hold right to work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
- Provide references upon request
- Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
