Role summary

You will work with households currently living in temporary accommodation, supporting them to move into suitable settled accommodation. You will manage your own caseload, understand individual housing and support needs, identify and overcome barriers to moving, and ensure households are matched with appropriate accommodation.

This is a fast-paced, customer-focused role that will play an important part in reducing the length of time households spend in temporary accommodation and achieving positive, sustainable housing outcomes.

What you will do as a Temporary Accommodation Move-On Officer

·Manage a caseload of households identified as ready to move from temporary into settled accommodation.
·Assess individual housing and resettlement needs, including affordability, location requirements, vulnerabilities and any additional support required.
·Match households to suitable accommodation, including private rented housing, supported housing, direct offers of social housing and choice-based lettings.
·Work closely with Lettings Negotiators to ensure available properties are matched efficiently and effectively.
·Set clear expectations with households around their realistic housing options and the steps required to successfully move on.
·Support households to overcome barriers to moving and signpost them to appropriate services, including benefits, debt and wider support services.
·Liaise with internal teams and external organisations to obtain information and put appropriate support arrangements in place.
·Support households through offers, viewings and the practical steps required to move and settle into their new home.

What you will need as a Temporary Accommodation Move-On Officer

·Experience working within homelessness, temporary accommodation, housing options, allocations or a closely related housing service.
·Experience managing a busy caseload and progressing cases effectively within a fast-paced environment.
·A good understanding of temporary accommodation, homelessness duties and routes into settled housing.
·Experience assessing housing needs and identifying suitable accommodation options for households with differing circumstances.
·Strong understanding of housing suitability, affordability and the barriers households can face when moving into settled accommodation.
·Experience supporting vulnerable households and working collaboratively with other services and external agencies.
