Cover People are recruiting for an enthusiastic and versatile Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking for a role that goes beyond the traditional classroom-based TA position, with a mixture of SEND support, SEMH interventions, enrichment activities, pupil mentoring and after-school provision.

The school places a strong emphasis on inclusion, emotional wellbeing and helping children develop both academically and personally. It also provides a wide range of enrichment opportunities and specialist support for pupils with additional needs.

This is a varied role particularly suited to an experienced Teaching Assistant who would like to take on additional responsibility and work across different areas of the school.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Lead and oversee the school’s after-school club, ensuring children are safe, engaged and supported.
• Support enrichment activities and SEMH interventions during the mornings.
• Work within the school’s inclusion provision, supporting small groups of pupils with additional needs, including Autism.
• Deliver targeted 1:1 and small-group mentoring and emotional support.
• Support pupils with SEND and help remove barriers to learning and progress.
• Promote positive behaviour and contribute to whole-school behaviour expectations.
• Lead pupil leadership groups and support the school’s wider enrichment programme.
• Help create purposeful and safe opportunities for pupils during less structured parts of the day.
• Work alongside teachers to deliver agreed learning activities and interventions.
• Monitor and record pupils’ progress, attainment, attendance, behaviour and wider development.
• Support the implementation and review of individual learning plans and EHCP-related provision.
• Assist with classroom organisation, learning resources and assessment materials.
• Promote independence, confidence and positive attitudes towards learning.
• Support pupils with personal care, hygiene or mobility needs where required.
• Help embed literacy and numeracy across learning and contribute to the wider development of pupils.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

• Hold a relevant Level 3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent qualification.
• Have experience supporting learning within a primary school environment.
• Have experience working with children with SEND and additional needs.
• Ideally have knowledge or experience of SEMH, Autism or nurturing approaches.
• Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Be confident working independently and using initiative.
• Be able to lead activities and supervise pupils effectively.
• Have a positive approach to behaviour and understand that behaviour can communicate an underlying need.
• Be organised, proactive and able to work effectively as part of a wider school team.
• Be committed to helping children achieve positive academic, social and emotional outcomes.

What We Need from You:

• An up-to-date CV covering your full education and employment history.
• A relevant Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience.
• Proof of Right to Work and UK address.
• A valid Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
• At least 2 professional references.
• A reliable, enthusiastic and professional approach.
