Teaching Assistant (ASD and SEMH Support)
An SEN school in Wareham is currently seeking Teaching Assistants to start on a full time basis (Monday to Friday, with a half day on Fridays).
This school graded ''Good'' by OFSTED caters for students who have ASD and/or SEMH needs. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students and be part of an inspiring and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build positive relationships with students to support their social and emotional development
- Provide one-to-one and group mentoring to promote engagement and resilience
- Support students in accessing the curriculum and participating fully in school life
- Assist with behaviour management strategies and reinforce positive behaviours
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to deliver tailored support
- Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience working with children or young people with ASD and SEMH
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach
- The ability to motivate and inspire students
- Resilience and adaptability in a challenging but rewarding setting
