We''re looking for an ambitious and visionary leader to join us as Director of Sustainable Development. This is a high-impact role at the heart of Luton Council s senior management team, leading critical services that will drive us toward our bold Luton 2040 vision a healthy, fair, and sustainable town where no one has to live in poverty. About the Role As Director, you will lead a diverse portfolio of services including: Climate Change and Sustainability Planning Policy and Development Management Transport and Highways (including BSIP) Building Control and Strategic Flood Authority Fleet and Waste Management You ll play a strategic role in major regeneration projects like the Town Centre Masterplan, Luton Airport expansion, and our net zero carbon target by 2040. You ll also act as a key advisor on environmental planning, development, and transport strategy shaping Luton s future through effective policy, leadership, and innovation.
