Structural Engineer
The Opportunity
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Structural Engineer to join a fast-growing, design-focused civil and structural engineering consultancy based in Exeter.
This is not your typical volume-driven consultancy. The team focuses on carefully selected, high-quality residential and commercial projects, delivering tailored engineering solutions with real autonomy and technical input. You’ll be involved from early feasibility and planning stages through to project completion — playing an active role in shaping schemes, not just delivering them.
If you’re looking for variety, responsibility, and the chance to work closely with architects and clients, this role offers a genuine alternative to a corporate environment.
The Role
As a Senior Structural Engineer, you’ll take a leading role in project delivery while contributing to the continued growth of the business.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating closely with architects, consultants, and clients to develop coordinated design solutions
- Producing high-quality structural designs, drawings, and technical reports
- Carrying out structural surveys, feasibility studies, and providing planning-stage input
- Managing client relationships and maintaining clear communication throughout projects
- Upholding high technical standards and ensuring quality across all deliverables
- Designing across a range of residential and commercial schemes, from concept through to completion
About You
You’ll be a confident and capable Structural Engineer who brings:
- A degree in Structural or Civil Engineering
- 5+ years’ relevant industry experience
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Tekla
- Experience with Revit, Site3D, or Flow (beneficial, not essential)
- Excellent communication, IT, and report-writing skills
- The ability to manage your own workload and deliver independently
- Competitive salary
- Flexible working arrangements
- Performance-related annual bonus
- Private healthcare
- Clear and achievable career progression
- Accredited training and development programmes
- A friendly, collaborative, and supportive team environment
- Your birthday off
This is a business in a strong position — able to be selective about the work it takes on, delivering projects it genuinely takes pride in while maintaining a personal, high-quality service. Based in Exeter, you’ll be part of a team that values trust, technical excellence, and a balanced approach to working life.
