Personnel Selection are recruiting for an experienced Warehouse Stores Operative to assist with Goods In and Despatch within a local busy manufacturing company. This is a varied, hands-on role supporting the smooth running of goods-in, stores and despatch areas, while helping to coordinate the movement of parts throughout the factory.

The successful candidate will be responsible for stock control, order picking and packing, goods-inwards support, stores kitting and general materials movement. You will also support production areas by ensuring required parts are available when needed, while maintaining high standards of safety, accuracy and housekeeping.

This role would suit someone who is organised, safety-conscious and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will take pride in keeping stores areas accurate and well maintained, while supporting colleagues across goods-in, despatch and production. Flexibility is important, as the role includes both stores responsibilities and practical factory-based support when required. This role will be temporary for 12 weeks through our agency, then will turn permanent depending on our clients workload.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Carry out daily cycle counts for smaller stock quantities and monthly cycle counts for larger quantities.
  • Pick, pack and prepare customer orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Deliver required stock and parts to manufacturing areas to support production schedules.
  • Maintain correct stock locations and assist with stock allocation across the factory.
  • Support goods-inwards receiving, including visual data entry, activity and associated documentation.
  • Assist with allocating incoming stock to the correct areas when required.
  • Unload shipping containers and support the safe movement of goods around site.
  • Keep the yard, stores and working areas tidy, organised and free from hazards.
  • Drive company pool car for business-related duties such as collections locally.
  • Operate forklift trucks and pedestrian stackers safely and responsibly when required.
  • Carry out stock control, stores kitting and other ad hoc stores duties.
  • Support wider manufacturing tasks when needed, such as greasing bolts, bundling and similar practical duties.
  • Follow disciplined safety practices at all times, particularly when operating lifting or handling equipment.
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards across all stores areas.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED TO BE CONSIDERED:

  • Previous experience working in a busy stores, warehouse, goods-in or despatch environment. - Essential.
  • Hold a foklift licence - Refreshers considered but you must have held a licence previously. - Essential.
  • Pedestrian Stacker experience. - Essential.
  • Drivers Licence - Standard Vehicle - Essential.
  • Experience with stock control, stock movement or stores kitting would be advantageous.
  • Ability to use a barcode scanner accurately.
  • Basic PC skills, including Microsoft Word.
  • Good attention to detail and the ability to complete documentation correctly.
  • A practical, flexible and hands-on approach to work.
  • Strong awareness of health and safety in a manufacturing or warehouse setting.
  • Reliable team player with the ability to work independently when required.

HOURS OF WORK & PAY RATE:

  • Day shift hours, 39 hours per week, Monday to Thursday: 7.45am to 5.00pm. Friday: 7.45am to 12.45pm.
  • £13.08 per hour, Overtime paid at £19.62 per hour.
