An exciting opportunity has arisen at Moorfields Stratford for a Specialist Grade Doctor for the Medical Retina Service. This role offers a full timetable with a total of ten sessions with face-to-face outpatient sessions, laser and injections. Continued responsibility for the care of patients and for the proper functioning of the service, with appropriate delegation to and training of staff.Day-to-day management of clinics and ensuring inpatient/outpatient services are covered during planned absences.Provide advice and support to clinicians in other services regarding patients with complex ocular problems (shared care).Contribute to the Medical Advisory Committee and other hospital committees as required; participate in audit meetings.Participate in clinical governance and audit, meet annual training requirements, and satisfy the Royal College of Ophthalmologists CPD requirements; participate in the Trust’s appraisal scheme.Teach postgraduate medical practitioners and all levels of staff in hospital and Institute of Ophthalmology courses.Qualifications
Essential criteriaCCT in Ophthalmology or equivalent ophthalmic trainingFRCOphth / MRCOphth or equivalentMBBS or equivalent medical qualificationDesirable criteriaHigher Degree (MD/PhD)Training
Essential criteriaWide experience in the glaucoma subspecialtyDesirable criteriaFurther qualification in glaucomaAccredited fellowship in glaucomaFurther qualifications / accredited training in management or leadershipSkills
