SMT Operator – Electronics
We are seeking a skilled SMT Operator to join our growing electronics manufacturing team. As an SMT Operator, you will be responsible for setting up, running, and maintaining SMD production equipment, including DEK printers and Siemens placement machines. From precision component placement to final inspection, you will ensure every product meets the highest quality standards.
While the primary focus of the SMT Operator role will be operating and monitoring automated machinery, you may also assist with other assembly tasks, such as accurate hand placement of components. You will work closely with your team to ensure smooth production flow, whether running a single line or supporting colleagues on multiple lines.
Key Responsibilities – SMT Operator:
- Operate computer-controlled surface mount assembly machinery to assemble printed circuit boards with surface mount technology
- Continually monitor the process to ensure outstanding quality using advanced inspection equipment
- Read and act on machine error messages, resolving placement and printing issues promptly
- Hand-place SMT components with precision, ensuring correct polarity and alignment
- Kit and de-kit SMT placement machines, as well as configure automatic stencil printers
- Accurately document run times, hand fits, and process deviations on Work Orders
- Read and interpret technical drawings, diagrams, and Bills of Materials
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards in the production area
About You – SMT Operator Profile:
- Experience in surface mount processes and equipment operation preferred
- Ability to work with extremely small components, down to size 0201
- Comfortable standing for extended periods during shifts
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
- Team player, willing to assist across production tasks
- Trainees welcome to apply – training will be provided, with starting salaries at the lower end of the pay scale
Package:
- Salary: Up to £25,000 per annum (depending on experience)
- Hours: Monday – Thursday, 08:00–16:30 (half-hour lunch)
Friday, 08:00–13:00 (no lunch)
