Job Title: Junior SMT Operator – Electronics

Are you passionate about electronics and looking to launch your career in manufacturing? We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior SMT Operator to join our growing team. This is an entry-level role, ideal for someone who has studied electronics and is eager to gain hands-on experience in surface mount technology (SMT) production.

As a Junior SMT Operator, you will be trained to operate and support our surface mount production lines, working with advanced equipment such as automatic stencil printers and component placement machines. You’ll learn the full process of assembling printed circuit boards (PCBs), from machine setup and monitoring to quality inspection and final assembly support.

This role offers excellent on-the-job training, giving you the skills and experience to build a solid foundation for a long-term career in electronics manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities – Junior SMT Operator:
  • Assist in the setup, operation, and monitoring of SMT production machinery
  • Learn to read and interpret technical drawings, diagrams, and Bills of Materials
  • Support in kitting and de-kitting SMT machines and preparing production runs
  • Gain experience with inspection techniques to ensure high-quality standards
  • Carry out accurate hand placement of components under supervision
  • Maintain clear production records and documentation
  • Uphold housekeeping and safety standards in the production area
About You – Junior SMT Operator Profile:
  • A qualification in Electronics (college, apprenticeship, or degree level)
  • Keen interest in electronics manufacturing and hands-on assembly work
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn new technical skills
  • Ability to focus on precise, small-scale work
  • A good team player with a positive attitude
  • No previous SMT experience required – full training will be provided
Package:
  • Salary: Up to £23,000 per annum (entry-level, depending on experience)
  • Hours: Monday – Thursday, 08:00–16:30 (half-hour lunch)
    Friday, 08:00–13:00 (no lunch)
