Skilled Mechanical Coil Winder

I am recruiting on behalf of my client for a Skilled Mechanical Coil Winder to join their aerospace manufacturing operation in Yeovil. My client is involved in the manufacture and support of advanced aerospace systems, including Environmental Control Systems, Life Support Systems, hydraulics and control systems. This is a hands-on manufacturing position working on safety-critical aerospace equipment within an established production environment.

As a Skilled Mechanical Coil Winder, you will be responsible for the assembly, manufacture and testing of aerospace equipment in accordance with engineering drawings, manufacturing instructions, specifications and customer/regulatory requirements.

The successful Skilled Mechanical Coil Winder will be responsible for:

• Producing components and assemblies in accordance with engineering drawings and instructions
• Manufacturing electrical coils and windings safely, accurately and efficiently
• Mechanical fitting and testing of Life Support and Environmental Control Systems equipment
• Working to production drawings, specifications, work instructions and quality standards
• Carrying out Operator Control of Quality (OCQ), confirming assemblies meet required customer and quality standards
• Ensuring work is completed on time and to the required standard
• Following company processes, procedures and Health & Safety requirements
• Working collaboratively with Designers, Engineers and the wider production team
• Supporting continuous improvement activities

For this Skilled Mechanical Coil Winder position, I am looking for candidates who can demonstrate:

• Knowledge or experience of mechanical fitting applications, particularly coil winding
• Manufacturing experience, with aerospace experience particularly relevant
• An understanding of the importance of safety-critical manufacturing
• Ability to read and accurately follow engineering and manufacturing instructions
• Strong awareness of Health & Safety requirements
• Good teamwork, flexibility and initiative
• Basic PC literacy
• Experience working within a customer-focused, target-driven environment
• An Engineering Apprenticeship would be desirable but is not essential

My client will provide further training where required, including company operating systems, manual handling, 5S, Lean manufacturing practices and general Health & Safety.
