Skilled Machinist - Manual Lathe

Pay: £16.00-£19.00 per hour (DOE)

Location: Abingdon

Hours: 37 per week + occasional overtime

My client is a global leader in high-specification, low-temperature engineering equipment. They are expanding their workshop team and looking for a Skilled Machinist with strong manual lathe experience and a willingness to learn larger machines such as Binns andamp; Berry and horizontal borers.

What You''ll Be Doing

  • Manual lathe machining to produce precision components to tight tolerances
  • Reading engineering drawings and working accurately to specification
  • Performing turning, boring, trepanning, roughing and finishing operations
  • Working with stainless steel, alloys, brass, copper and plastics
  • Routine maintenance of machinery and tools
  • Supporting wider fabrication and assembly tasks
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, organised work environment
  • Working independently and as part of a small, skilled team

What They Are Looking For

  • Time-served apprentice preferred
  • Minimum 3 years machining experience
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, reliable
  • Able to work efficiently alone and collaboratively
  • Willing to learn and operate larger workshop machines
  • Must attend our Abingdon site for interview and trade test

Working Hours

  • Mon-Thurs: 07:30-16:00 or 08:00-16:30, Fri: 07:30-12:30 or 08:00-13:00 Overtime available depending on customer demand.
