We''re recruiting for an experienced Senior / Site Manager to join a major wastewater treatment project at Bishop Auckland Wastewater Treatment Works, with works due to commence in August.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a long-term water infrastructure scheme, taking ownership of site delivery from the early stages of the project through to commissioning.
The Role
You''ll be responsible for managing the day-to-day delivery of the project, ensuring works are completed safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Working closely with the client and delivery teams, you''ll play a key role in driving the project through every stage of its lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full project lifecycle from Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and design through to construction and commissioning.
- Develop robust project plans, defining scope, technical requirements, and delivery strategies.
- Lead site teams, engineers, subcontractors, and supply chain partners.
- Manage reinforced concrete, shaft sinking, and complex civil engineering activities.
- Control project budgets, monitor costs, and produce accurate forecasts.
- Administer NEC4 contracts, managing variations, compensation events, and change control.
- Identify and mitigate project risks while maintaining programme milestones.
- Ensure full compliance with health & safety, environmental legislation, and UK water industry regulations.
- Act as the key point of contact between the client, contractors, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders.
- Carry out site inspections and quality checks to ensure works are delivered to specification.
- Maintain strong working relationships with Costain, ensuring all delivery aligns with their procedures and project standards.
About You
We''re looking to speak with candidates who have:
- Proven experience as a Senior Site Manager or Site Manager within the water or heavy civil engineering sector.
- Previous experience delivering wastewater treatment works or major water infrastructure projects.
- Strong background in reinforced concrete works and shaft sinking.
- Experience working within a Northumbrian Water environment.
- Good working knowledge of NEC contracts, project planning, and commercial management.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop site teams.
- A proactive approach to problem solving, risk management, and project delivery.
- SMSTS, CSCS, and First Aid qualifications (preferred).
Salary & Benefits
