We are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Engineer to join a leading civil engineering contractor on a major earthworks package. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a large-scale infrastructure scheme, delivering bulk earthworks and associated civil engineering works.
Site Engineer Roles & Responsibilities:
- Managing engineering activities across a large earthworks package
- Carrying out and overseeing all setting out duties using GPS and total station equipment
- Ensuring works are delivered in line with programme and technical specifications
- Reviewing and managing site documentation including RAMS, ITPs, permits, and QA records
- Maintaining accurate QA/QC records and completing inspection and test plans
- Coordinating daily site operations alongside the Site Agent and Project Manager
- Monitoring quality of works and ensuring compliance with design specifications
- Supervising subcontractors and ensuring work is carried out safely and efficiently
- Supporting progress reporting and maintaining detailed site records
- Assisting with planning, sequencing, and logistics of earthworks operations
Site Engineer Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Site Engineer on earthworks or heavy civils projects
- Strong setting out experience (GPS, total station, machine control preferred)
- Good understanding of QA/QC processes and site documentation
- Experience working with bulk earthworks, cut & fill, or ground remediation
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Relevant qualification (HNC/HND/Degree in Civil Engineering or similar)
- Valid CSCS card
- SMSTS or SSSTS preferred
- Strong communication and organisational skills
