Site Engineer

We are recruiting a Site Engineer to join a tier-two civil engineering contractor on a major water infrastructure project based near Southampton. This is a direct delivery role requiring a hands-on engineer to take full ownership of site accuracy, setting out, and engineering control for a high-profile asset upgrade.
The Role
As Site Engineer, you will be embedded in the live delivery team, providing setting-out precision and practical technical problem-solving on the ground. Your day-to-day will involve:
Direct Delivery Setting Out: Executing precise dimensional and engineering control across civils, structural, and groundwork packages.
Technical Interface: Reviewing drawings, updating site CAD files, and raising TQs and RFIs to resolve design queries instantly.
Quality & Handover: Managing quality control on the ground through strict enforcement of ITPs, as-builts, and gathering final handover documentation.
Subcontractor Coordination: Monitoring daily outputs, coordinating trades, and maintaining accurate records through site diaries and progress photos.
HSEQ Compliance: Enforcing a strong safety culture, ensuring all operations strictly adhere to Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) and RAMS.
Essential Requirements
Direct Delivery Experience: A proven track record working in a direct site delivery capacity for a civil engineering contractor.
Water Sector Background: Practical site engineering experience working on UK water infrastructure projects (clean water, wastewater, or treatment assets).
Technical Qualification: A degree, HND, or HNC in Civil Engineering or a related construction engineering discipline.
Site Ready: A valid CSCS card and SMSTS (or SSSTS) certification.
Equipment Literacy: Hands-on proficiency with modern surveying/setting-out gear and basic CAD software.
