The Role
We are seeking an experienced Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Engineer to join the on-site engineering team at a large hospital estate in Newcastle.
This is a site-based position responsible for the planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repair of a wide range of air conditioning and refrigeration equipment throughout a busy healthcare environment.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Service, maintenance and fault finding on split systems, VRV/VRF systems, chillers and commercial refrigeration equipment.
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance across critical and non-critical hospital areas.
- Diagnosing and repairing equipment breakdowns to minimise operational downtime.
- Undertaking small installation and remedial works where required.
- Maintaining accurate service records and ensuring compliance with statutory and site-specific regulations.
- Supporting the wider engineering team in maintaining the hospital's mechanical services infrastructure.
- Participating in the site's call-out rota.
- Ensuring all works are completed safely and in accordance with healthcare and HTM compliance standards.

The Person
The successful candidate will be an experienced Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Engineer with a strong background in service, maintenance and fault finding.
Essential Requirements:
- F-Gas Category 1 Certification.
- Proven experience working on split systems, VRV/VRF systems, chillers and refrigeration equipment.
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
- Excellent understanding of planned and reactive maintenance.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-skilled engineering team.
- Experience within hospitals, healthcare environments or other critical facilities would be advantageous.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Salary & Benefits
- Salary up to £48,000 per annum depending on experience.
- Company van included.
- 40-hour working week.
- 23 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays.

- Call-out rota: 1 in 5.
